Tyler Stearns | Week three concluded with few upsets, but many top-ranked teams struggled against weaker opponents. The most notable was Georgia, who beat a Kentucky team that lost 31-6 at home versus South Carolina by one point. Missouri struggled against a talented but weaker Boston College, and 12th-ranked Utah struggled against an unranked Utah State. But with week three on the way, let's look at the three biggest games and predict the winner for each.
Tennessee at Oklahoma The Volunteers have gotten off to an amazing start to the 2024 campaign. After dismantling NC State 51-10, they put up 70+ on Kent State. Oklahoma, on the other hand, has struggled offensively against Tulane and Houston and it will be tough to fix those issues against a really good Tennessee front seven. UT will handle Oklahoma, 35-10.
USC at Michigan Michigan has looked like a shell of last year's team. They have no offensive identity and have regressed defensively. USC has improved on both sides of the ball and showed that in both of their games so far. If Michigan can't throw versus USC, then the Trojans can load the box and stop the Wolverine rushing attack every drive. Assuming nothing does change for Michigan, USC will win 27-14.
Utah at Oklahoma State Utah and Oklahoma have both looked shaky this year. OSU beat a bad Arkansas State team by seven at home with too many missed opportunities, and Utah has played badly against Utah State and Baylor. Cam Rising has dealt with some injury issues so far this season and the offense hasn't been able to produce without him. But for the Cowboys, their defense has looked very disappointing. Ultimately, Kyle Whittingham's experience will help the Utes win 30-27.
