We have been blessed with some incredible college football games in the last four years. Let's take a look at the five best.
Oklahoma versus Texas, 2021 (Red River Rivalry, Regular Season) The best game of the decade so far. This was the day Caleb Williams introduced himself to the world. His insane run and multiple Houdini plays made in that game were incredible. The Sooners were down 21, 18, and 15 at numerous different parts of the game. What topped it off was an gutsy run play call from Lincoln Riley where Kennedy Brooks took a 40+ yard wildcat play to the house. What a game.
Ohio State versus Georgia, 2022 (Peach Bowl, CFP) This game may not have been here if it weren't for Marvin Harrison Jr. not getting injured. The Buckeyes were rolling before he got injured. Their passing attack was amazing and their defense was getting stops. They were up two scores, but Stetson Bennet turned it around for the Bulldogs. OSU missed a last-second field goal and Georgia went on to the National Championship.
Utah versus USC, 2022 (Regular Season) This game started the constant heartbreak that the Trojans have felt when they play the Utes. USC started strong but lost their lead. The two Western powerhouses battled it out in Salt Lake City. Utah went down in the last two minutes and scored a touchdown. Instead of tying the game with an extra point, they successfully had a successful two point conversion which put them ahead. USC couldn't do anything with the last 45 seconds and the Utes won in a regular-season classic.
Washington versus Texas, 2024 (Sugar Bowl, CFP) This game was incredible. Amazing. Everything was perfect, down to the last, minute detail. Michael Penix had arguably the greatest performance by a QB in a CFP game ever. Even though he only had two touchdown passes, his pinpoint accuracy was unbelievable. He made himself a first-round QB in that game. As for Texas, they were okay throughout the game, hanging in with the Huskies. They got a lucky break at the end of the game and had a chance to win it, but a poor play call and good defense shut it down.
Washington versus Oregon, 2024 (Pac-12 Championship) This game was the most hyped-up CFB game in the history of the PAC-12 (since Colorado and Utah joined). They played each other earlier in the year and the Huskies won in an amazing game. Washington was undefeated going into the PAC-12 Championship and Oregon's only loss came to UW. Even though the Huskies beat the Ducks a few months back, Oregon was heavily favored considering their recent form. They were killing everyone and were looking like the best team in CFB. However, when the game started, it looked just like October. Washington got off to a hot start and kept it until the fourth quarter, but the Ducks came back and nearly equalized. After a big touchdown, all they needed was a stop, but they were unable to do so and Washington earned their spot in the CFP.
